“der Mensch von Natur...ein gesellschaftliches thier
ist”. All the prominent English editions (unlike the French,
Russian, Italian and Spanish versions examined) except one omit the
“by nature” qualifier. Suggests reasons for and the
significance of this critical and essentially mysterious omission.
