AMS 3095A qualification for chrome-free paint systems AkzoNobel

Article Type: Industrial news From: Anti-Corrosion Methods and Materials, Volume 62, Issue 2

AkzoNobel Aerospace Coatings celebrates AMS 3095A qualification of new, 100 per cent chrome-free paint systems for commercial fleet maintenance. The new systems provide customers with increased flexibility and choice, including multiple topcoat options and the possibility to choose between water-based surface pretreatment or a unique direct-to-metal system.

The chrome-free systems – which utilise reactive ingredients derived from renewable resources – not only bring new levels of simplicity and speed to the finishing process but also meet – and exceed – stringent aviation industry specifications for adhesion and corrosion resistance.

The AMS 3095A qualified systems make use of a breakthrough patented chrome-free corrosion inhibitor technology that features superior protection. Marketed under the name Aerodur HS 2118, the chrome-free primer is formulated with the latest, low VOC, high solids technology and demonstrates AkzoNobel’s leading position in chrome-free technology to provide corrosion protection.

The new systems are the latest in a long line of sustainable aerospace innovations designed to improve performance, productivity and quality while enhancing workplace safety and reducing the environmental footprint.
