Alesta ZeroZinc primers join Axalta’s global portfolio

Axalta Coating Systems, a leading global supplier of liquid and powder coatings, announces the expansion of its global product portfolio to include Alesta® ZeroZinc, the next generation of zinc-free anticorrosion primers. These innovative powder primers are formulated to provide an optimum solution for a variety of substrates and offer the potential to reduce costs, enhance operating reliability and save resources for our customers.
“Alesta ZeroZinc is an environmentally responsible coating solution due to its zinc free and heavy metal free formulation,” said Fred Allen, Global Technical Director for powder product R&D at Axalta. Alesta’s ZeroZinc is available in three formats suited for application on different substrates. The Alesta ZeroZinc family includes “Steel Primer” for ferrous substrates, “Edge Primer” for steel and aluminum substrates with sharp edges and “Antigassing Primer”, which offers a tailored solution for degassing substrates:
The Alesta ZeroZinc primers are designed for customers who demand high performance and environmentally responsible solutions that can help generate operational savings from reduced costs and wear on their application equipment, said Bill Sante, Global Business Development Director for Axalta’s powder coatings.
Aside from quality protection, Alesta ZeroZinc is environmentally responsible due to its formulation without zinc and heavy metals. ZeroZinc meets the standards regarding corrosion protection and durability according to DIN ISO 12944-6. It also fulfils requirements up to class C5-I long. In combination with an adequate pre-treatment, the primers provide durable, best-in-class corrosion protection even under the most severe conditions such as aggressive atmosphere, high humidity and extreme climate.
