Abstract

In a prelude to a series of papers on the topic of prevention, the author argues that the current Government's investment in prevention is a waste of resources without integrating culturally sensitive solutions.Prevention is a subject that is at the forefront of the current government's agenda for NHS reform. With an ageing population, as well as ever‐increasing rates of poor mental health, obesity, diabetes, asthma, coronary heart disease and cancers within the UK population, the current government is looking at strategies that will reduce the burden on the public health purse. This article looks at prevention within the context of health in minority ethnic communities.
