Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of this paper is to provide the viewpoint of a visually impaired student social worker.

Design/methodology/approach

The author provides some reflections on leadership.

Findings

Blind from birth, the author was educated at a Residential School for the Blind in Worcestershire and currently resides in North Staffordshire with her husband and six children. Following the birth of her sixth child, Ellen embarked on her ambition to pursue a career in Social Work enrolling at Staffordshire University in 2008.

Originality/value

The author provides a unique viewpoint and both personal and professional reflections on the act of leadership.
