TY - JOUR AB - Hackers and crackers are constantly surfing the Web looking for vulnerable systems. But the most dangerous hackers are the enemies within. The amount that a company should invest in system security depends on its level of risk. To see how much is at risk, a company should create fraud and theft scenarios and then develop a security system that will hold potential losses to an acceptable level. Guarding the perimeter requires setting up firewalls, selecting effective passwords for authentication, and using anti‐virus and anti‐spamming systems. Companies today are using VPN (virtual private network) access points and server‐locking software to prevent unauthorized system access.
