Abstract

CALS (continuous acquisition and life‐cycle support) strategy which originated in the American military in 1985 is widely embraced by many countries to build a digitized product life‐cycle supporting environment for their industries. Given that an enterprise can find it easier to be agile through the implementation of the CALS strategy, it is apparent that CALS is an enabling strategy for an organization toward an agile management system. This paper discusses the key elements of the CALS strategy and derives the necessary tactics to tackle the application of the strategy. A practitioner can use the advice from this paper to implement an agile management system.
