Abstract

Manufacturing agility can be defined as the ability to closely align manufacturing enterprise systems to changing business needs to achieve competitive performance. Agility has therefore three fundamental dimensions: organisation, technology and human, in addition to financial aspects. The paper discusses organisation, technological and human aspects of agility with respect to product design, manufacturing system design and innovation management.
