TY - JOUR AB - In June 2003 the Care Standards Tribunal heard an appeal from Alternative Futures Limited against a decision by the National Care Standards Commission to refuse Alternative Futures' application for voluntary cancellation of the registration of 11 care homes under Section 15 (1) (b) of the Care Standards Act 2000. Alternative Futures had applied for the cancellation of registration because it felt that the homes were no longer functioning as registered residential homes but were supported housing with domiciliary care. The service users had learning disabilities and had been granted tenancies. The article summarises some of the key points of the judgement.
