Your Flexible Friend: Finance Schemes in Mental Health
Abstract
It has often been said, as a sort of joke, that everyone would be better off if day services were closed and the money given directly to service users to spend on themselves. The schemes described in this article take the principle of direct payments very seriously and show practical ways of overcoming at least part of the poverty trap that mental health service users often find themselves in.
