AB  - This paper looks at the Government's agenda for social care, and assesses its implications for managers developing staff training in learning disability services. The first part of the paper sets out the principles and proposals in Modernising Social Services and describes the Government's early steps to implement change and outlines the main features of the new regulatory framework for social care contained in the Care Standards Bill. The second part considers the implications for staff training in learning disability services, drawing on TOPSS England's draft National Training Strategy, and identifies areas for consideration by local managers and education and training providers.
