Selected design aspects in CAN‐bus system connected with signal propagation in real transmission lines
Abstract
Purpose
The paper focuses on CAN‐bus based systems: a determination of the configuration parameters by analysis of their characteristic structure, topology conditions and transmission properties.
Design/methodology/approach
Voltage measurements were made in a test circuit of CAN‐bus together with calculations of adequate waveforms with the help of elaborated programs. The signal parameters transmitted in bus lines were logged and measured using digital oscilloscope.
Findings
The results allow some conclusions to be drawn about the correctness of assumptions in realising the configuration
Originality/value
The results of the investigations have proved the possibilities of parameters calculation, required to choose relevant CAN controller configuration during the design.
