Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of this paper is to comment on the excitement caused by release of On the Record, the final report of the Working Group (WG) on the Future of Bibliographic Control.

Design/methodology/approach

The paper highlights areas of the WG report that have particular relevance to the author.

Findings

Convergence of enriched catalogs, WorldCat Local, and federated tools, along with the Library of Congress' decisions vis‐à‐vis the WG report will have a significant impact on libraries this year.

Originality/value

This paper provides a snapshot of a memorable moment in time.
