Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of this article is to reflect on the state of bibliographic access.

Design/methodology/approach

The article contrasts today's bibliographic challenges with those of 25 years ago.

Findings

The article suggests many of the inadequacies that existed in the past will persist into the future.

Originality/value

The article provides a means of viewing today's bibliographic environment in historical context.
