Abstract
For 21st century companies, the imperative to reduce costs while providing better service is never far from view. In their search for HR solutions to this challenge, many are making outsourcing an integral and permanent part of their human‐resource strategies. Of 125 companies surveyed for HR Outsourcing Trends, a research report by The Conference Board and sponsored by Accenture HR Services, two‐thirds currently outsource a major HR function and most of these are seeking to expand what they do. Rarely has any company stopped outsourcing a function once having started. The research reveals that fewer than 1 percent of outsourced HR functions have been brought back in‐house.
