Highlights: opportunities for improving the Russian environment

Abstract

Reports on the state of the environment in the newly emerged Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). Although the Russian constitution was one of the first to cover the protection of the environment, the focus here is on the numerous causes of negligence regarding environmental issues. Discusses differences in the business milieux of Russia, the CIS and the West, and ends with a summary of the positive aspects of conducting business in Russia and the CIS, including a list of useful hints on how to be successful.
