Getting the Best from Salary Surveys

Abstract
Aims to help personnel specialists choose and interpret salary surveys. While there are a large number of these, their quality varies considerably. At the same time little is written about how to choose and interpret them. Even the best contain built in biases which under – or overestimate actual salaries being paid and/or report a very wide range of salaries – so it is often difficult for users to make sense of what is often a mass of confusing data.
