Abstract

Considers the definition of business process re‐engineering (BPR) as a process to redesign business as a whole. Describes the basic principles of BPR (customer focus, breadth of knowledge and speed of attack), and why they are so important. Highlights the fact that the success of BPR depends on the business’s initial situation, and that it is not the key to profit. Concludes that this is a useful tool for highlighting areas of the company which need attention.
