Abstract

A robust kaizen system, suitable for initiating TQM, was developed and implemented in a large company in India, named Godrej, for over two years. Statistical analysis of accumulated data was done to identify predictor variables and determine their optimal levels. While doing this, a unique method was evolved. It marries analytical hierarchy processes with Taguchi methods to overcome limited availability of predictor variable combinations. The method has general applicability in social sciences.
