AB  - Suggests a method for studying the survival strategies employed by organizations that exhibit hyperlongevity, the ability to survive 250 years or more. Hyperlongevity is a theory in the process of being built. To develop hyperlongevity theory further, a technique is needed for studying the strategies pursued by managers. The technique is metapopulation analysis, a modeling technique borrowed from biology. Metapopulation analysis can be used to construct a model of an organization’s development from the historical record of what the organization did. The strategies actually pursued by the managers of the organization may be studied from the model.
