Accountable Teacher Evaluation is a refreshingly accessible academic book that is a joy to read because of its professional and practical focus. It is structured in three major sections:justification for accountable evaluation systems; establishing teaching and evaluation standards; implementing accountable outcomes. Each section has well written chapters with a wealth of case studies and exercises to make the book of real value and use to the practitioner. In particular, the summary to each chapter provides an excellent “check list” of the key ideas. The link between establishing teacher standards and how to operate them is complemented by practical advice on everything from establishing tenure to terminating contracts. A very worthwhile read.
