Abstract

Purpose

A model collaborative approach among three distinct library systems with common goals and missions but unique delivery systems. The primary goal was to improve the out of school environment in libraries and develop best practices in supporting youth during these hours. This paper deals with these issues

Design/methodology/approach

With support from the Urban Libraries Council, the project maintained an outcome‐based approach with measurable goals, indicators, and outcomes.

Findings

Substantive progress was made in producing tangible products. Sustaining the work becomes the main focus as the funding runs out.

Originality/value

Suggests options for collaborative project management among several large library systems.
