An anti‐spam scheme

Abstract

Purpose

To describe a means of discouraging unsolicited e‐mails or “spam”.

Design/methodology/approach

The scheme makes it difficult for web‐scanning techniques to identify and collect e‐mail addresses from web sites.

Findings

The scheme appears to work and has an unexpected extra benefit.

Practical implications

It is hoped this will mitigate the menace of spam.

Originality/value

The method is thought to be novel.
