Abstract

Reports on a recent pilot survey carried out between six public library authorities within LASER (London and South Eastern Library Region), the largest library region in the UK (covering 43 local authorities). The aim of the survey was to ascertain the total supply time for an interlibrary loan (ILL) request, from reader request to the item being in their hand, by measuring each stage of an ILL’s progress. Highlights difficulties involved in collecting and assessing data of this nature and stresses the need for further work in this area.
