Abstract

Examines some of the implications of increasing numbers in higher education for the management of buildings and estates of the English polytechnics and colleges. Discusses the history of polytechnics and colleges, financial independence, growth, government and the PCFC, efficient use of property, rationalization, condition of the buildings, strategy, accommodation strategy, accountability, PCFC capital, and investment appraisal.
