Abstract
Discusses the history, development, and current state of the building sealant industry. Considers various joint designs as well as sealant application and oil‐based and butyl mastics, acrylic, polysulphide, polyurethane and silicone sealants. Surmises that the proper selection and application of sealant give the designer considerable freedom of choice in producing a reliable, durable system.
