Abstract

Examines correlates of self‐reported, on‐the‐job development and learning opportunities among women and men working for the same professional service firm. Women and men, members of the management and professional accounting staff, reported similar levels of on‐the‐job development and learning opportunities. Three types of correlates were considered: personal demographics, work setting characteristics and affective responses to work. Work setting characteristics and work outcomes, but not personal demographic characteristics, were related to levels of on‐the‐job developmental and learning opportunities. Organization and management implications are offered.
