TY - JOUR AB - This paper describes recent developments in laser induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) and discusses emerging applications. These include military and security uses, environmental monitoring, process control and material analysis. The renewed interest in this technique has arisen from developments in optoelectronics which are poised to make LIBS instruments significantly less costly and smaller than in the past.
