Abstract

A new instrument has been designed and built to measure the reflectance of light at continuously variable angles of incidence and reflection. The project aims to improve the correlation between visual assessment and instrumental measurement, for products in which gloss and colour must be assessed together. This includes diverse materials such as wood, leather, hair, teeth, fabrics, metal and confectionery.
