Strategic Direction

ISSN: 0258-0543

Article publication date: 18 April 2008

The objective of this paper is to offer businesses who have yet to address going green an introduction into how to go about change as well as examples of businesses who are becoming carbon neutral effectively.

This briefing is prepared by an independent writer who adds their own impartial comments.

The paper finds that if there is one resolution the business world must make to this new year it can only be to respond more actively to climate change. There is no longer any escaping the basic facts that have been agreed by 2500 scientists: there is a 90 percent chance that our emissions of greenhouse gases are altering the climate and if the level of emissions does not fall by 2020 there will be global consequences.

Practical implications

The paper gives businesses who are new to thinking about the environment a simple guide into where to start and why they must.

The paper returns to basics on climate change, to offer simple advice to businesses who are confused about what to do when it comes to going green.
