Abstract

Purpose

This paper aims to ask why executives fail to foster innovation.

Design/methodology/approach

Provides a useful discussion on why executives fail to foster innovation.

Findings

Despite innovation becoming a major focus, most companies are still failing to create the right environment for an innovate business; and according to a number of recent studies one of the biggest factors in this failure is the senior management themselves. It appears that irrespective of all the talk this issue is just not getting the attention from senior executives that it needs. Although, there are some best practice companies around who have managed to successfully embed innovation into their business and a study of these has highlighted 15 key principles of innovation management.

Originality/value

Provides 15 key principles of innovation management.
