This collection of papers is concerned with the e‐serials industry. It offers an overview of the e‐serials industry from all aspects, including: publishing, pricing, acquisitions and collection development, cataloging and metadata, preservation and archiving, projects and innovations, indexing, uniform resource identifiers, and finally citation format. Each article has been updated by either the same author as in the first edition or by the person who is currently handling the project or issue at the same institution. The focus of these articles is on the new innovations that have occurred since the 1998 edition was published. This edition is just as informative as the older edition. New topics include experimentation by e‐journal publishers, an article concerning SerialsSolutions, and tracking e‐journals in aggregator databases.

This book is recommended to any librarian interested in the e‐serials industry, in particular, to serials librarians and those who are new to the serials industry. E‐serials have affected all areas of library science, from reference to technical services. Any professional wanting to learn more about the issue is recommended to read this book. It is also recommended to library schools to include in their collections to help emphasize the changes in the industry through course‐work. It is an excellent resource to use for teaching library students the new issues involved with serials, e‐journals and databases. This is a “must have” for any professional serials librarian's personal collection.
