GM creates flexible assembly line at its Ellesmere Port plant in the UK

Abstract

GM's Vauxhall plant at Ellesmere Port is now building not only the Astra model but also the Vectra. Turning this plant into a flex plant that was also lean and efficient involved major changes to the assembly line operations. In particular, the logistics organisation was reviewed, which resulted in new and extended roles for logistics partners.
