Abstract

Deals with planning the maintenance scheduling of a group of non‐identical production units. Develops a realistic model for the joint overhaul problem by incorporating the cost of co‐ordination. The model selects overhaul schedules that minimize the average total cost of operation which consist of the cost of repairs, the cost of production, and the cost of co‐ordination. Proposes a new procedure for solving the problem. Lower costs are obtained for two examples from the literature which were solved using the proposed model.
