AB  - Purpose– This paper aims to analyze the three issues about China's social assistance programs and put forward some suggestions separately.Design/methodology/approach– Qualitative research, mainly using documentary analysis.Findings– The paper finds that China's urban and rural social assistance, minimum living standard security and special assistance programs, China's social assistance and the other parts of social security such as social insurance and social welfare are in need of closer coordination.Originality/value– This paper presents a valuable idea about the need for the coordination of China's social assistance programs.
