Investing in public library people
Abstract
Training and development issues are moving up the management agenda. Draws on the data from a recent investigation into public library staff. Examines the pressures which are encouraging managers to reassess their developmental needs and policies, focusing particularly on support staff in public libraries. Discusses current training needs and provision in public libraries. Outlines the potential of the Investors in People award as an opportunity for library managers to reassess their programmes and policies.
