Abstract
There have been a number of attempts to describe and promote more flexible approaches to manufacturing. This paper describes the principles underpinning a method known as agile manufacturing ‐‐ designed to be flexible and responsive and to bring together the engineering and marketing arms of the business to meet customer needs ‐‐ and discusses the kinds of technological support that are available to support the method.
