Abstract

Redundancy is almost always a painful time ‐ for organizations and for those individuals made redundant. The traditional way of selecting employees was a simple last in ‐ first out basis. Although this is simple, and in many ways, fair, it can lead to a distorted age/skills profile in the organization. Looks at the legal framework governing redundancy and shows how organizations can act within the law while using a range of selection criteria for redundancy to ensure that the organization remains equipped with the right workforce for the future.
