Information resource management
Abstract
Information technology is relatively new. Information is not. Information resources have always existed, but technology vastly increases our ability to access resources, both those we own and control and those outside of our own sphere of influence. Information management becomes more important every day: we need to ensure that people within our organizations get the information they need to do their jobs effectively, and, if we are to achieve real success, we need to ensure that people do not get information that is not relevant to their activity. The competitive advantage of organizations is very much governed by the effectiveness with which they manage their information resources.
