TY - JOUR AB - Against a background of increasing recognition of young people′s needs for guidance and advice in their learning choices, highlights the principal challenges facing employers today, and discusses the various approaches which need to be reconciled. Suggests a number of actions needed to implement mentoring as an integral part of an effective outcomes‐referenced system. Explores the possible roles and responsibilities of mentors in such a system and argues that the suitability of mentors should be of paramount concern for those planning to introduce mentoring for young people.
