This is simply a very useful book. The careful annotations and highly selective choices of web sites make this an ideal book for healthcare consumers. Librarians will find it very helpful when guiding healthcare consumers to high quality health and medical information.

This book should be in both circulation and reference sections in every library that serves healthcare consumers. The simplicity of organisation and scope of topics covered make this an ideal choice for healthcare consumers to acquire their own copy, or to give as gifts to friends and family. The first three chapters briefly cover the Internet and Web basics for searching, evaluating, and being aware of “where” you are on the Web. Chapter 3 is one of the friendliest overviews of the different types of communications options on the Web. Since many health and medical sites offer chat, discussion forums, or other options for sharing. Chapter 3 clarifies and guides users to be safe, secure and as private as it is possible to be. Chapter 8 “Diet, Nutrition, and Recipe Sites for Medical Problems and Conditions” is outstanding among the chapters that discuss and list sites of particular interest to anyone looking for good diet, nutrition, and wellness information. Definitely recommended.
