TY - JOUR AB - An examination of what management education should be accomplishing in today′s companies to provide executives with the skills necessary to lead their businesses into the future. Categories of executive skills that should be considered in developing management development and education programmes are discussed: anticipatory, visioning, value congruence, empowerment and self‐understanding skills. Other considerations are also examined. An experiential learning environment is suggested for imparting the desired skills. The more frequently used forms are discussed. The importance of assessment and changes to the effectiveness of any programme, is stressed.
