TY - JOUR AB - Discusses the emergence of virtual teams in the current business world. The issues posed by virtuality as opposed to proximity for group members and trainers and developers are raised. The stages of group processes –from formation/socialisation to the adjournment of virtual teams – are identified and considered in relation to virtuality and proximity. Examples are given from the Electronic Communication Forum (ECF) showing how the reality of working practices mirrors the theory offered. Some questions are posed which will need further research before answers can be generated.
